Visual communication
Through their research, ecologists have found that trees in
a forest aren’t competing for their nutrients but are in fact sharing them
through their roots by communicating with mycelium (fungus). This network system
is known as the ‘Wood Wide Web’ and is what inspired this project. I explored
the visuals of fractal patterns found repeated in nature and paired them with
poems and other pieces of text that explore the idea of natural connections. These
explorations are displayed in a box to create a cohesive final outcome, taking
the viewer on a thoughtful journey through the woods.
